When I was 16, I was riding a 1978 BMW R100S. BMW R100S was summer time in IL close to the Mississippi, so very humid. I was due to be moving to the East Coast in a few weeks, so I was out cranking around on the bike. I wore a full face Bell helmet, but I didn’t wear any of my leathers with skid plates or my boots; it was too damned hot!
The BMW R100S engine makes its connection with the bike’s rear wheel through the same five-speed transmission, U-jointed shaft and final drive assembly used in the other currently-produced BMWs.
